Lusaka, Zambia – The Secretariat of the African Youth SDGs Summit, announces new dates for the 5th Africa Youth SDGs Summit thus 14th to 18th August, 2023. This announcement is in collaboration with Summit organizing partners, Youth Advocates Ghana, Alliance for Accountability Advocates Zambia, and 2nd Door Zambia, and Summit supporting partners, the Government of the Republic of Zambia, and the United Nations in Zambia. The summit, previously scheduled to take place from June 12th to 16th, will now be held from August 14th to 18th 2023 in Lusaka, Zambia, at the Kenneth Kaunda Wing of the Mulungushi International Conference Center.

The decision to change the dates was made after thorough consideration and consultations with the Government of Zambia and key stakeholders, taking into account, critical events and evolving circumstances. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the change in date may have caused and hope the new dates remain favourable for your active participation. Meanwhile, with the new dates confirmed, we aim to ensure a more inclusive and impactful engagement, in line with the spirit of leaving no one behind. Further, all registered participants, partners, and stakeholders are requested to update their calendars accordingly and adjust their travel arrangements.

The African Youth SDGs Summit serves as a platform for young African leaders, policy-makers, and all other stakeholders to collaborate, share ideas, and strategize on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the continent. This year’s summit, themed “Attaining SDGs through Youth Innovation and Financing for Inclusive Development in Africa,” will provide a Pan-African platform for the youth to drive engagements, showcase innovative solutions, and foster cross-sectoral partnerships to advance sustainable development in Africa.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners, stakeholders, and the host country, Zambia, for their unflinching support regarding this decision. We also deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment by all partners to the African Youth SDGs Summit. Kindly note that all other aspects of the summit, including the program, keynote speakers, and thematic sessions, will remain unchanged, while we remain open to new suggestions and ideas. Further updates and details will be shared through our official channels and website, ensuring transparency and accessibility for all.

We assure our esteemed partners and stakeholders that this change of dates presents more opportunities to stage a high quality inclusive and impactful 5th Edition of the African Youth SDGs Summit. We look forward to delivering a truly remarkable event that empowers young African leaders and accelerates progress towards the SDGs in the region. We encourage all stakeholders to look out for our pre-summit activities and opportunities as we build up to the 5th African Youth SDGs Summit in August.
